A Beginners Guide to Privileging
There are Three Different Kinds of Board Certifications a Provider Can Obtain :
1 . Primary Certification 1.1 Granted to providers for successfully completing and maintaining requirements for their primary specialty .
2 . Subspecialty Certification 2.1 Granted to providers for successfully completing and maintaining requirements for their primary specialty . 2.2 Requires completion of additional Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education ( ACGME ) accredited fellowship training for at least one year .
3 . Focused Practice Designation
3.1 Granted to a provider who demonstrates additional expertise and continued focus in a particular area of specialty or subspecialty .
