a Ballet Education A Ballet Education Issue 10 | Page 6

LETTER FROM THE EDITOR This issue has been a wonderful experience for me. Over the past month, A Ballet Education and the Phoenix Ballet were able to co- host the Golden Swan Gala and have it live broadcast on YouTube. Not only did this event bring together some of the biggest and brightest stars in ballet, but it represented diversity across the world of ballet. This event was wonderful, and I was lucky enough to have Alexandra Rose come from California to photograph Jillian Davis, our feature. It was a magical experience, to say the least. This experience was then followed by the Youth America Grand Prix semi-finals, and that always brings stress and excitement. But, now that the semi-finals are over, I have a chance to take a break and breathe, sort of. A Ballet Education has so many exciting things coming out this summer: the technique book, the technique tracker, the curriculum and much more. It is all very exciting. Though, to finish everything I have come back to Charleston, to focus on writing, producing work, and preparing for New York Finals and Jackson. This is also a good month, because it is my birthday month. With every new year comes new wisdom. This past year I have learned a lot, and now being back in Charleston I am really able to reflect on the difficult last year. Everything seemed to happen very fast last year, and so this year, I am trying to slow down and focus on the things that really matter to me: A Ballet Education. Last year I spent so much time investing into other people, businesses, and companies that A Ballet Education didn’t grow as much as it could have. So this year, I am focusing on myself, and really sticking to that. I have tried helping so many people, dancers, companies and brands that I spread myself thin and now I am tired. Extremely tired. But, as I look forward to turning one year older, I am looking forward to the bright future of A Ballet Education and taking more time for myself; exploring all of my options and passions. Looking at the next issue makes me extremely excited an I hope you enjoy this beautiful issue.
