A Letter From The President

Dear fellow WID members,
The Greater Hampton Roads WID Chapter achieved
another year of strong performance in 2017-2018,
demonstrating the strength of our winning strategy
of growth fueled by our diversified programming that
served our membership. This is the ninth consecutive
year we generated excitement and organic growth
within our organization. We proved that we can pivot
our programming, execute with speed and excellence,
and make courageous choices that create momentum
for the coming years. As the premier national defense
women’s organization, we aim to exceed our member-
ships’ expectations, and this drive for excellence
permeates all that we do.
WIDGHR has offered some stellar training events this year and we have seen an increase in attendance
through collaboration with industry partners and by using some of our membership’s talents and skills.
We have hosted several training seminars on everything from “Human Resources to Financial Strategies.”
WIDGHR has numerous resources within our organization that are available to all members. We have
attorneys, bankers/financiers, financial advisors, accountants and many more subject matter experts. And,
they are all at some point looking to hire a work force. So no matter what your needs are….we at WIDGHR
can help you bridge the gap. As the saying goes “it is not what you know but who you know.”
This is my last Professional Development Day as your president. I would like to say thank you for the
opportunity to serve you and thank you for your active engagement. Women in Defense is a wonderful
organizational with unlimited potential. Every women involved with the defense industry or a small
business should definitely join and get involved. Thank you again for the opportunity to meet so many
wonderful people and, I look forward to the new administration and the excitement around the new
president.
