About the Award Glenda Bluhm - 1946 - 2013 Glenda Bluhm was a trailblazer who worked tirelessly to foster strong business ties to cultivate women advancing in industry through science and technological opportunities. Glenda worked for the Department of Defense for over twenty years. She had a BS degree in Information Technology and she managed a small consulting firm for several years after she left the government. She served as one of the founders of the Women in Defense Greater Hampton Roads chapter and the first president. The mission of the Glenda Bluhm Award is to recognize women who participates in the defense of this country using science and technology, and/or facilitated partnerships between industry and the small business community. As part of our efforts to honor Glenda Bluhm’s exceptional work in the national defense industry, WID Greater Hampton Roads Chapter recognizes high-achieving women, working to cultivate and support the advancement and recognition of women in all aspects of science and technology in the national defense industry. Our first recipient of the Glenda Bluhm Award was Becky Reed, of Reed Integration. Becky is a leader in the community who graciously gives her time and resources to foster growth of women in the business and STEM community. She also champions the development of young Information Technology professionals in support of the defense community.
