LAMARCK might have been RIGHT
Through exhaustives investigations scientist have found that the expression of genes can be affected by environmental factors.
Researchers discovered that depending on the chemical group they carry, if they are acetylated or methylated, they permanently activate or deactivate genes directly affected by behaviors such as nutrition, stress levels, pregnancy care, smoking and alcohol consumption. This genetical modifications are passed through the histones on the mother cells, during DNA replication, to daughters using methods that remain unclear to scientists.
This means that life does adapts to its environment bringing back to life Lamarck's despised years ago. However, this doesn't means that epigenetics are incompatible with natural selection but complementary to understand mechanisms of evolution.
