Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated  86TH CENTRAL REGIONAL CONFERENCE REGISTRATION BOOK "Exemplifying Excellence with Confidence and Southern Charm in the Bluegrass State” Event Summary THURSDAY, MARCH 12, 2020 Graduate Advisors’ Training Institute, Level I (additional fee required) 7:30 am – 2:00 pm This training institute is for Graduate Advisor candidates, Graduate Advisory Council members, sorors in chapter leadership positions who have never been certified and sorors who have allowed their certification to expire. You must pre-register for this session and meet the guidelines for admission to this class. There will be no onsite registration for this training. Documents must be postmarked by February 1, 2020. Graduate Advisors’ Training Institute, Level II (additional fee required) 7:30 am – 12:00 pm This training institute is for Graduate Advisor candidates, Graduate Advisory Council members and sorors in chapter leadership positions who are seeking re-certification. You must pre-register for this session and meet the guidelines for admission to this class. There will be no onsite registration for this training. Documents must be postmarked by February 1, 2020. Leadership Training Institute 7:30 am – 12:00 pm This interactive training program is for seasoned leaders and aspiring future leaders who will focus on topics in the areas of leadership styles, communication styles, chapter operations, meeting management, financial operations, protocol and other aspects of sorority leadership. Financial Officers Certification Training (additional fee required) 8:00 am – 2:00 pm The Financial Officers Certification Training will be offered to current and aspiring Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. chapter financial officers. This one-day, interactive, hands-on certification is designed to assist the graduate chapter Tamiouchos and Pecunious Grammateus in executing their operational responsibilities. Sorors will be trained in the proper implementation of financial procedures as outlined in the Fiscal Fitness Guide to Chapter Financial Procedures and referenced in several other sorority documents. A creative, learning approach will be used to enhance the core competencies of certification participants. Sorors who successfully complete this training will earn the designation of Certified Chapter Financial Officer. On-Site Donation: AKA Soles 4 Souls, Recycled Eyeglasses and Pillow 8:00 am – 8:00 pm Pillow Case Dresses and Shirts Join us in achieving our goal by donating gently worn shoes, recycled eyeglasses and pillow case dresses and shirts at this year’s regional conference. Sisterhood Luncheon – “Pearlfection in the Mirror” 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm A fun-filled interactive time of sisterly relations as we celebrate our past while preparing for our future. We will stroll down memory lane, strengthen sisterly bonds, connect with sorors from multiple generations, and renew sisterly acquaintances. What decade are you from? We will also recognize those who were voted as Soror of the Year. Regional Conference Briefing for First-Time Attendees 2:30 pm – 3:30 pm Get the most from your conference experience. This workshop is intended for newly initiated, reactivated, and first- time conference attendees. A welcome from the Regional Director and other conference leadership will kick off a session of tips for positioning yourself to grow in knowledge, to expand your network of sorors, and to seek opportunities to serve.
