potential for water on their surfaces. This is an exciting discovery in the search for life on other worlds. TRAPIST-1 shows that there can be significant differences in the mix of planet types. However, the strange thing about this system is that all seven planets orbit within the same distance the Earth orbits the Sun. And you thought the subway was crowded! Speaking of the subway, we’ ve got to get back to Earth!
On our trip today, we learned that exoplanets come in many different sizes, astronauts have found thousands already using both the transit method and radial velocity method, there’ s a possibility of life on exoplanets that are rocky, terrestrial, and located in the habitable zone of their star, and the nebular hypothesis is used to understand exoplanet formation. Lastly, we explored TRAPIST-1, a star with exoplanets in its habitable zone. As global warming continues to threaten our planet, it’ s important to explore other planetary options for life. As we discover more planets beyond the eight we learned in elementary science class, research gives us more hope to expand the lifespan of the human race.
