PREFER
We use prefer to say we like one thing or activity more than another. We can use a prepositional phrase
with to when we compare two things or actions:
I prefer tea to coffee.
Ecem prefers skateboarding to cycling.
Eren prefers bungee jumping to scuba diving because it is more challenging.
What do you prefer doing on summer holidays?
I prefer cycling to driving because it is healthier.
I prefer rafting to kayaking because it is more entertaining.
Would rather
We use would rather or ’d rather to talk about preferring one thing to another. We use ‘’than’’
when we compare two thing or actions.
Kubra would rather do scubadiving than do heli-skiing.
Nisa would rather play underwater hockey than play football.
Muhsin would rather go caving than go rafting because it is less dangerous.
