On September 9, 1919, the Parliament founded the History Museum of Armenia in accordance with Law No. 439. Originally named the Ethnographic-Anthropological Museum-Library, it has been renamed several times - the State Central Museum of Armenia (1926), Historical Museum (1935), State History Museum of Armenia (1962), Cultural-Historical Museum (2000), and the History Museum of Armenia (since 2003). The museum welcomed its first visitors on August 20, 1921. Its first director was Yervand Lalayan.
