W ith that proclamation , the seeds for Gwynedd Mercy University were planted . What started with 28 students in 1948 has blossomed into more than 25,000 Distinctive Mercy Graduates who are making a difference in their lives , in their communities and around the world . It all began here .
Many things have changed over the past 75 years , but our deep and abiding commitment to living our Mission and Core Values has remained constant . They have guided

our decision-making , inspired generations of students , faculty , staff , donors and friends and propelled us forward in a constantly changing world .
Some of you are probably from other states and you will go back bringing with you the culture of the Sisters of Mercy .

The Sisters of Mercy petition the Pennsylvania Department of Education to establish a private junior college .
The Sisters of Mercy purchase 84.5 acres of property from the Taylor family for $ 100,000 on May 10 .
Gwynedd-Mercy Junior College is founded with Mother Mary Bernard Graham as its president .
