M other Mary Bernard Graham , the foundress and first president of Gwynedd-Mercy Junior College , spent nearly a year scouting locations for the college until she learned of “ Treweryn Farm ” — an estate then owned by the Taylor family .
In 1947 , the Sisters of Mercy purchased 84.5 acres of the estate , including the manor house ( Assumption Hall ), the stables ( Byrne Hall ), a formal garden , a tenant house for the gardener , a garage , a greenhouse and a small laundry building ( Gustav Martin Building ).
of another extensive campus transformation . In fall 2023 , GMercyU broke ground on the new Frances M . Maguire Healthcare Innovation Center , which will be the largest academic building on campus . Loyola Hall and the Frank O . Genuardi Legends Fields ( baseball and softball ) have undergone extensive renovations , a new market opened in University Hall and the Evans Road entrance to campus was redone .
