RIGHTS OF EUROPEAN CITIZENS
There are 6 main principles
Human Dignity
Freedom
Democracy
Equality
Rule of Law
Human Rights
The European Union is an area of free movement
within which everyone can move, stay and work
freely.
Every citizen of the Union has the right to vote and to
stand as a candidate at municipal and European
elections in the Member State where he or she
resides, under the same conditions as nationals of that
State.
European citizens can make complaints and raise
concerns of a European nature to the European
Parliament.
Complaints relating to maladministration by the
European institutions can be addressed to the
European Ombudsman.
In a country without diplomatic representation from
their country of origin, a European citizen can get
help from the embassy or consulate of any other
country in the European Union. From now on, a
million citizens can, by their signature, change the
course of European policies. Legislative initiative at
European level can belong to the citizen.
