Ladies' Market - Mong Kok

When you crossed Argyle Street you will find yourself in the most famous, most visited and most popular market: the Ladies’ Market. The Ladies’ Market was relocated from its previous location in Temple Street in Yau Ma Tei and ever since became popular among locals and visitors. Don’t be confused by the name “Ladies’ Market”, because it is not a place where you can only get ladies’ products.

Although the market is called Ladies’ Market and used to sell items just for ladies in the old times, it now offers products and souvenirs for everybody from T-shirts, watches, clocks, handbags, phone cases, toys and other souvenirs.

Besides the small items, you will notice there are many stalls that do not display any products but a catalogue of luxury brands of handbags and watches such as Louis Vuitton, Gucci, and Rolex. Be aware as those products are obviously forged and they’re made in nearby factories in Shenzhen.

The Ladies’ Market opens from 12:30pm to 11:00pm everyday. The best time to visit the market would be early afternoon as the market usually starts to get crowded at around 3:00 to 4:00, especially on weekends and holidays.

Tips: Prices in the Ladies’ Market is more an idea than fixed. Make sure to bargain with shopkeepers even if they have a sign that says “No Bargaining”. Just stroll to the next shop if you’re not happy with the price or if it seems unreasonable, you’ll always be able to find the same product in a couple of shops. Though Hong Kong is a safe place but taking good care of your belongings and money is recommended because the Ladies’ Market sometimes gets really crowded and there might be a chance of a few pickpocket-ers hanging around the market.
