When we were collecting the ideas for this year › s festival at the beginning of the year , Muhaned told me : « I know that all the artists will work on a specific topic . So , I want to do something different . I will work on the green city of Baghdad .» I asked him : « What do you mean ?» He said : « Baghdad is missing green areas .» I said : « But , there are a lot of green areas in Baghdad . And remember , each family home in Baghdad has its own palm tree .» He said : « Yeah , but you do not see the green , because it is under a big cloud of smoke .»
This smoke , he is talking about , is not the environmental pollution smoke . The smoke , he is talking about , is the veil of repression , the veil of unconscious oblivion , the veil of oppression .
There is something nice , but you do not see it anymore because there are powers that influence your reception , and your way of seeing things , even managing your own life .
عندما كنا نجمع ا�فكار لمهرجان هذا العام في بداية العام ، قال لي مهند : » أعلم أن جميع الفنانين سيعملون على موضوع معين . لذا ، أريد أن أفعل شيئًا مختلفً ا . سأعمل على موضوع مدينة بغداد الخضراء ». سألته : » ماذا تقصد ؟» قال : » بغداد تفتقد المساحات الخضراء ». قلت : » لكن هناك الكثير من المساحات الخضراء في بغداد . وتذكر أن كل منزل عائلة في بغداد له نخلته الخاصة « قال : » نعم ، لكنك لا ترين اللون ا�خضر ، �نه تحت سحابة دخان كبيرة « هذا الدخان الذي يتحدث عنه ليس دخان التلوث البيئي . الدخان الذي يتحدث عنه هو حجاب القمع ، حجاب النسيان اللاواعي ، حجاب الظلم هناك شيء جميل ، لكنك لم تعد تراه بعد ا�ن �ن هناك قوى تؤثر على إدراكك وعلى طريقتك في رؤية ا�شياء ، بل وحتى على إدارة حياتك
