Athena Swan Award
KBS has been awarded the Athena SWAN Bronze Award , recognizing the work done by the School to date . Athena SWAN is a progressive charter , which focuses on supporting and transforming gender equality practices within the Higher education landscape .

Throughout its work towards the submission , KBS identified a number of priority areas , including , for example , reducing gender inequalities and gender award and attrition gaps of BAME and international students .
Keele Excellence Award for KBS Colleague
Dr . Shiva Sikdar , Senior Lecturer in Economics , has been awarded a Keele Excellence Award for work within the Equality , Diversity , and Inclusion domain .
The awarding panel recognised his continued contribution to the Race Equality Charter for the wider University , and the professional and social support provided to BAME staff and students .

KBS UG Student Recruitment
The majority of Keele ’ s students in KBS come from the UK , with overseas interest from students from China and India . As with the rest of the University , KBS ’ s undergraduate home population is predominantly from the West Midlands and the Northwest making up the second most popular region .
The Access position of KBS is strong , with over a fifth of the 2022-23 intake coming from areas with the lowest representation in higher education . This puts the gap between the most and least represented students in KBS at – 3.7pp .

With regards to recruitment materials , Keele ’ s approach for 2023 has been to dramatically reduce reliance on printed materials , and printed UG and PG prospectuses have not been printed this year , with mini guides being used instead . These mini guides also use a fraction of the paper a typical prospectus uses , helping us to reduce our carbon footprint in both raw material use and transportation .
