Pressline, Monotech and Welbound Worldwide show digital book press at Printpack
M
ake in India has revealed a
new dimension at Printpack
with the running demonstra-
tions and launch of a digital book press
with inline finishing and binding. The
Jetsci X1/X2 Series, described as an
industrial inkjet system, at the show is
actually a complete digital inkjet press
in which you put a reel of paper and can
get a complete bound book block at the
other end.
There are several options that are
being shown at Stand B13 in Hall 3,
such as a sheeter which is apparently
and remarkably a variable print length
sheeter. There is a feeder for printed
covers also that can be attached to the
book block. Overall, it was an impres-
sive breakthrough demonstration and
one of the HOT PICKS for the best of
Printpack of which we have made a
video for our YouTube channel.
The digital book press shown at
the Pressline, Welbound Worldwide
and Monotech stand is a collabora-
tion amongst the three companies with
Pressline’s web paper movement, pro-
cessing and integration, Monotech’s
JetSci inkjet array and Welbound
Worldwide’s folding and binding solu-
tions.

The Jetsci X1/X2 series press being
shown is a monochrome press with a
native resolution of 1200 dpi, which is
needed to properly print books on un-
coated papers. It prints on both sides of
the web without the use of a turner bar
and can be configured to run at a speed
of up to 300 meters a minute.
Definitely one of the highlights of
the Printpack India 2019 show.

First Bobst folder-gluer at K Joshi and Company
Pune’s K Joshi and Company buys Visionfold 110 folder-gluer
P
une-based K Joshi and Company
has signed a deal to buy a Bobst
Visionfold 110 folder-gluer. The
deal was announced by the two parties
on the third day of Printpack 2019. This
will be the first Bobst folder gluer at K
Joshi and Company.
K Joshi and Company is into com-
mercial printing as well as into print-
ing packaging cartons. This move to
buy a brand new Visionfold 110 fold-
er-gluer will enable the company to
take up high quality packaging carton
jobs, says Anil Joshi of K Joshi and
Company.
“We were looking for a company
which can offer high level of reliabil-
ity and lasting peace of mind when it
comes to after-sales service. Buying a
Bobst machine involves big investment
but we decided to go ahead with that
decision,” Joshi says.
K Joshi and Company is looking to
further expand into the carton packag-
ing segment but wants to focus on only
premium jobs. “Right from the onset,
we decided that we will not chase vol-
umes and focus on high value custom-
ers and niche jobs,” he adds.
The new Bobst Visionfold 110
folder-gluer is expected to be commis-
sioned by end-March. Commenting on
the development, Venugopal Menon of
Bobst India says, “K Joshi and Compa-
ny want to expand further into the pack-
aging segment and were looking for a
versatile and flexible machine which is
capable of processing various designs
of boxes.”
