On December 30, 2015, the NYC Departments of Parks and Housing Preservation and Development agreed to permanently preserve 15 of the gardens on the list in the NYC Parks inventory. Community pressure was so great that the list was extended to 21 additional community spaces that had not been offered to developers yet but were at risk because the City considered them temporary. A huge win: 36 community spaces transferred to the NYC Parks Department for permanent preservation and community stewardship.
