Another parent at a Kingdom Off Road Motorcycle Club event commented:
"I think that the addition of an electric dirt bike is a great idea for the club, as it introduces variety and displays to the kids involved that clean energy can be just as much fun as petrol bikes. If the whole fleet could be electric it would make it far more desirable for me to spend days in the field with my son because I wouldn’t be deafened by the bikes or have to breathe in the exhaust fumes. It would also future proof the club as technology power is shifting in that direction.
"Most importantly for me is the positive impact it is having on my and son, he has always felt like an outsider because of his disability but now when he rides the electric dirt bike he just feels like one of the lads.
"His learning disability is less obvious because the bike is easier to use, and not stalling, means he doesn’t come home feeling like a failure any more. He finally feels that he fits in somewhere and that people will overlook his disability and accept him for who he is.
"The fact of the matter is the club always promoted that sense of inclusivity, but Jayzen is very inward looking and self-critical, the introduction of the electric dirt bike has enabled him to fully appreciate the comradery and peer supportive ethos of the club."
Jayzen said:
"Riding an electric dirt bike is much easier because you can focus on obstacles rather than changing gear.
"I can ride better than Joe (my friend) now, because he was good at gears and I kept messing them up on the petrol bikes, but now I can show him how well I can ride.
"I feel like I fit in better now because I don’t keep stalling the bike, I can just ride like everyone else.
"The club is much more fun now."
Dave continued:
"Some other young people have had I ride on our electric bikes. I would like to remind everybody that we are a charity, so please if you do know anyone who would benefit from coaching or an initial taster on the Kuberg electric motorcycles please let us know. Call Dave on 07921857283.
"This certainly seems like a great new move in the direction of inclusive motorcycling. Where barriers to off-road motorcycle Sport are being reduced. Off Road Motorcycling is now becoming accessible to all.
"Once again we would like to extend a great big thank you, to the Friends of the Bird Scheme; Buckhaven and denbeath Community Council, Corra CLIMB. Thanks to Fiona, Jason's mum who completed the funding application to Corra.
We also have to give a huge thanks to 56'N Scotland Motorcycle Magazine and Kuberg UK for making this happen!
