Kingdom Off Road Motorcycle Club (KORMC) have recently taken delivery of two electric bikes from Kuberg UK.

The Kuberg Challenger and Trial are now being used at KORMC's track events teaching children riding skills and were also recently used at the East Neuk Wobblers trial at Drumcarrow,.

KORMC raised the funds to buy the bikes after organising a coffee mornign in Pittenweem and funds donated from sponsors including 56'N.

Dave Patton, pictured left:

"We received the Kuberg Challenger and Hero electric motorbikes a few weeks ago.

"They have proven to be great little bikes with exemplary power and battery life lasting from 10am to 2:30pm. The little Hero also ran all day. :-)

"The bike has also been put through its paces by ex schoolboy AMCA and SACU Scottish Champion, Connor Smith.

"Connor from the East Neuk Wobblers club, previously completed 3 days in the Scottish Six Days Trial. Unfortunately, Conner lost his left hand in a tragic accident last year and has not ridden a trials bike since. That was until last week when he gave the Challenger a test with his prosthetic hand.

"Conner was very positive about the balance of the bike the responsiveness also saying he'd would love to see an electric bike compete in the Scottish Six-Day trial.

Information from another parent:

I think that the addition of an electric dirt bike is a great idea for the club, as it introduces variety and displays to the kids involved that clean energy can be just as much fun as petrol bikes. If the whole fleet could be electric, it would make it far more desirable for me to spend days in the field with my son because I wouldn’t be deafened by the bikes or have to breathe in the exhaust fumes. It would also future proof the club as technology power is shifting in that direction.

Most importantly for me is the positive impact it is having on my and son, he has always felt like an outsider because of his disability but now when he rides the electric dirt bike he just feels like one of the lads. His learning disability is less obvious because the bike is easier to use, and not stalling, means he doesn’t come home feeling like a failure any more. He finally feels that he fits in somewhere and that people will overlook his disability and accept him for who he is. The fact of the matter is the club always promoted that sense of inclusivity, but Jayzen is very inward looking and self-critical, the introduction of the electric dirt bike has enabled him to fully appreciate the comradery and peer supportive ethos of the club.

Riding an electric dirt bike is much easier because you can focus on obstacles rather than changing gear.

I can ride better than Joe (my friend) now, because he was good at gears and I kept messing them up on the petrol bikes, but now I can show him how well I can ride.

I feel like I fit in better now because I don’t keep stalling the bike, I can just ride like everyone else.

The club is much more fun now.

Jayzen Partington.

Some other young people and children have had I go on our electric bikes. I would like to remind everybody that we are a charity, so please if you do know anyone who would benefit from coaching or an initial taster on the kuberg electric motorcycles please let us know. Call Dave on 07921857283

This certainly seems like a great new move in the direction of inclusive motorcycling. Where barriers to off-road motorcycle Sport are being reduced. Off Road Motorcycling is now becoming accessible to all. :-)

Once again we would like to extend a great big thank you, to the Friends of the Bird Scheme; Buckhaven and denbeath Community Council, Corra CLIMB fund and of course 56'N Scotland Motorcycle Magazine. And thanks to Fiona, Jason's mum who completed the funding application to Corra.
