Laps - Riders - Hours

Who wouldn’t want to do a lap of the Isle of Man TT course! Add to that experience the possibility to raise funds for a number of very worthy causes and you’ve got a weekend not to miss on the island.

Steve Marsh and Jim Hunter (pictured) came up with the idea of a charity ride on the Isle of Man after finding some old black and white images of a previous effort by André Baldet and Dennis Christian promoting a rally on the island. Baldet and Christian rode 100 Laps of the TT Course in 100 hours riding 4-hour shifts on a Vespa GS back in the late 50’s. Despite fog, heavy rain and drizzle they finished the event with almost an hour to spare. The pair completed the final lap with Andre riding and Dennis as pillion.

Jim has been very active figure with the TT for decades and currently manages the newcomers to the island’s racing. He’s also raced in the TT and his last race was won by Scotsman and racing legend Steve Hislop (1991 F1) riding one of the amazing Honda RVF 750s ( Carl Fogarty was 2nd). He’s quite proud of the fact that this year will be his 27th year as Travelling Marshal for TT/MGP, and quite rightly so, the support these Marshal’s provide is absolutely legendary!

Jim was also part of the three-man team along with two other TT veterans, Ian Pert and Ronnie Russell, delivering aid (The Van Trip) to communities in Romania, following the tyre tracks of Joey Dunlop, and to refugee camps in Turkey.

A big thanks also go out to Dave Redmayne, Leanne Redmayne and Alex Aitchinson for their involvement organising the event.
