£5000 raised on the Isle of Man TT circuit as riders replay a historic

100 lap endurance ride.

A late 50's endurance ride by André Baldet and Dennis Christian was the catalyst for the 100 Laps in 100 Hours by 100 Riders last month on the Isle of Man.

Steve Marsh, Alex Aitchinson and Jim Hunter came up with the idea of a charity ride on the Isle of Man based on Baldet's and Christian's ride to raise funds for local racing and motorcycle charities including the Billy Redmayne Memorial Fund, Manx Grand Prix Supporters Club, Southern 100 Supporters Club, the Isle of Man (ACU) Benevolent Fund, and the next Van Trip by Jim Hunter, Ronnie Russell, and Ian Pert from the Brechin based Hedzup charity.

The idea was to have 100 riders ride a lap of the TT course and make a donation to the charity funds but it grew so much larger than that. The 100 allocated slots quickly filled raising the initial £2500 target but it wasn't until the event started that the full extent of community support was seen.

Riders came from across the country to take part including Iain and Bobby Forest, and John Jones taking some of the 56N allocated slots. The first rider left from the TT Pit Lane at 18:00 on Wednesday June 19th and the last lap started 100 hours later on Sunday June 23rd at 21:00 closing the event at 22:00.
