The electric bike market has just been set a new benchmark with the role out of the SR/F from Zero Motorcycles. This isn’t just an upgraded SR, far from it, the SR/F is a whole new bike melding modern riding technology with Zero’s proven battery technology and latest electric motor.

Electric bikes might not sound that interesting but until you ride one you’re really not going to understand them. Previous technology was limited in power and suffered in terms of range but like most tech these days things are evolving – quickly. The SR/F is the latest form of that evolution and we were lucky enough to pick one up from Zero at Knockhill Racing Circuit this week for a day testing it around the local roads.

Using Zero’s Cypher III operating system the SR/F has now brought traction control, Bosch cornering ABS, and drag torque control to the electric bike scene. There are also four rider modes, Eco, Street, Sport and Rain whereas past bikes from Zero only had in effect what was a low and higher power setting. Cypher III also includes a full customisable dash and an App from which to control the rider modes and bike settings.
