Lewis said: “As everyone knows racing isn’t a cheap sport and to have 56’N come onboard for my 2019 race season is amazing. I can’t thank the full team enough for their help but also all their support. 56’N has been doing some excellent work publishing my racing news over the past years and it’s been a great help to let everyone know how I have been getting on each month racing and what I have been up to. I’m really looking forward to this season on the Aprilia and having a sponsor like 56’N is really motivating for me.”
Lewis isn't a newcomer to Aprilia's but the move onto the RSV4RF’s will be a change from his previous experience but, having shown his capability across numerous classes and bikes it's a challenge he is well prepared to accept.
He has competed in the Superstock 1000 in the past finishing 20th overall on the MSS Colchester Kawasaki ZX10RR so he knows how competitive the race series will be.
Speaking about his place in the In Competition Team he said: “I feel honoured to have this opportunity to ride the Aprilia RSV4RF with such a great team. I can’t wait to get started and see what 2019 brings for me and the team. I can’t thank In Competition enough for giving me this opportunity. I am looking forward to working with the team and hope to prove myself well in the Superstock 1000 class after having such a great season in 2018. I would also like to thank my sponsors for standing by me.”
Over the winter months Lewis has been training hard for the season ahead and has had the opportunity to test the bike at Silverstone and last week at Knockhill Racing Circuit.
At the recent test day at Knockhill Lewis set a strong pace and was looking smooth in the mixed conditions that day.
"I'm really happy with the feeling I have on the bike so far. The team have set it up really well for me and I'm adapting to it quickly so by the opening round of the championship I want to be running towards the front of the field and make progress all year from there."
The first round of the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 series will be run along the British Superbike Championship at Silverstone over the weekend of April 19 - 21st (Race Schedule).
