Past vs Present : Winter 2021
Past vs Present has become a beloved staple in the academic calendar , as alumni get to relive former glory as they participate in head-to-head fixtures with current students over the course of one weekend .
On behalf of the Athletic Union ( AU ), our current AU & Sports Officer Lucy Whitehouse would like to extend her thanks to all of our alumni who attended our Winter Past vs Present ( PvP ) event on the weekend of 6-7 November .
The Covid-19 pandemic has meant that many past and present students have not recently had the opportunity to participate in staple Keele events such as Athletic Union Ball , Varsity and Woodstoke . The Athletic Union therefore invited alumni to participate in fixtures for over twenty different sports , attend socials with their former teams and relive the iconic Wednesday nights at Keele Student Union through the AU : dio takeover evening .
Our winter Past vs Present event attracted alumni from far and wide , as former students flocked to campus . The Sports Centre was flooded with excitement and enthusiasm , as fixtures took place across our facilities . The opportunity to play with alumni was very valuable to many present students , as they enjoyed learning previous winning tactics and challenging their abilities against some of our finest former players . The atmosphere on campus was electric , as alumni and present students socialised between matches , sharing memories of BUCS , training sessions and traditions . Students and staff were delighted to welcome so many fond former players back , and hope that many of them will return to our future Past vs Present events .
