SHOWSTOPPERS
GET STARTED
STEP 1 :
Have a look at the ingredients on page 1 or the ones that you have readily available in your cupboards at home . Have a think about what flavours may work well together . Alternatively , are there some ingredients that are so far removed from one another that combining may just be a taste sensation ? ( I can ’ t stop thinking about marshmallows and chilli flakes , ed !)
STEP 2 :
Here are some examples of the ones we tried :
TOPPING 1 : Wonderland PBJ ! Cut a chunk of butter that looks like a reasonable amount for your popcorn ( an adult could help you figure this out !). Melt the butter in a heavy-based saucepan on a low setting . Don ’ t let it boil ! Once it has all melted turn the heat off and add a tablespoon of peanut butter and a tablespoon of jam to the pan while it ’ s hot . Sprinkle a pinch of salt on top . Stir with a wooden spoon , then pour onto your popcorn in a bowl , mix it up with the wooden spoon , and wait for it to cool . Mmmm curiouser and curiouser !
TOPPING 2 : A Wicked ! kick Melt you butter like you did for topping 1 . Once the butter is liquid , add a teaspoon of mixed herbs , a teaspoon of smoked paprika and , if you ’ re feeling brave , a sprinkling of chilli flakes ! Mix everything together with a wooden spoon . Pour the spicey , buttery mixture over your popcorn in a bowl , and mix it again with the wooden spoon , before waiting for it to cool . Too hot to handle ?
TOPPING 3 : A pirate ’ s bounty |

This is one for those who enjoy something more dessert-like , and |
|
|
|
you ’ ll have to eat it with a spoon ! |

Ask a grown-up to help you melt some chocolate either in a
bowl over a saucepan of boiling hot water or in the microwave .
Once the chocolate is melted add a banana to it and mash
with a fork . Sprinkle the mixture with a couple of tablespoons
of dessicated coconut and then add your popcorn . Mix it all
together with the fork . Let ’ s tuck in , I ’ m starving !
