STEP 3 : Collect inspiring pictures
Make a Marvellous Mood Board !
POLLY ’ S mISSION
Polly loves making a mood board . ‘ What ’ s a mood board ?’ I hear you say . Great question . A mood board is an arrangement of pictures , materials and pieces of text designed to represent a particular idea or concept . Lot ’ s of creative projects ( including your issues of AQUILA magazine ) start with a mood board . You ’ re going to be creating a mood board for something ( arguably ) even more exciting ! Polly wants you to imagine you ’ re designing something super fun – a river rapids ride , to be exact !

Use the internet , old magazines , old newspapers and even leaflets from existing theme parks to collect pictures that inspire you . Look out for your chosen colours . A mood board is just about showing the general feel of your idea ! When you have your pictures , print them off if you need to , and cut them out with scissors .
STEP 4 : Stick your pictures onto the mood board
This bit is simple ! Take your inspiring pictures , and use some tape , sticky tack or glue to attach them to your sheet of paper or card . It ’ s exciting when you get to watch your idea come together ! Can you see how the colour scheme helps everything look like it belongs to the same experience ?
STEP 5 : Textures !
Now for the finishing touches to your marvellous mood board ! Add scraps of fabric to represent any flags you might have , or perhaps fluffy textures or feathers for animal fur . Attach natural elements like stones or leaves with tape showing what textures your landscape and its plants will have . You could even add some spices or flowers to capture the smells you want for your ride !

STEP 1 : Pick a theme
To start with , think about what you want the theme of your river rapids to be . What is the basic story : Are you rushing through a Norse forest to escape a dragon ? Are you riding through the jungle to find a secret tomb ? Are you at pirate school , trying to get your sailing licence ?

STEP 2 : Pick a colour scheme
Next , you can decide on a colour scheme for your ride . Having recurring colours will help bring the whole look together .

PVA glue
A glue stick or sticky tack to stick things onto your sheet
Internet access ( supervised ) and a printer and / or old magazines , old newspapers and leaflets
Scissors
