SAINT LUCIA ALMOST
GOT TRADED FOR
CANADA
16
Saint Lucia, small but mighty!
Albeit a small island in the
West Indies, Saint Lucia is rich
with resources, potential, promise and was thus
highly sought after during the 17th and 18th
centuries. Not only did the French and the
British battle for control 14 times, Black History
365 says, St. Lucia was considered so valuable
because of its sugar production at the time, that
the British and French were willing to trade all
of Canada for the small island. Eh!
