4 Corners A Publication of Lauderdale County Schools Volume VI Issue 9 April 2019 LCSD Strategic Planning in Full Swing For several months now, we have been gearing up with great anticipa- tion to our strategic planning process. On April 10, 2019, fifty indi- viduals across a wide sector of our community gathered at MSU- Meridian to kick-off this initial work. Key stakeholders, such as dis- trict and school administrators, teachers, business and civic leaders, community college representatives, church leaders, parents, and stu- dents, each with a vested interest in the success of the Lauderdale County School District, brought their unique perspective to help shape the future of our school district. Through collaboration and sharing of ideas, this group established the core beliefs and mission of the Lauderdale County School District moving forward. The work completed thus far will serve as the foundation for the goal-setting phase of the strategic planning process and developing a plan of ac- tion in May. Dr. John-Mark Cain, Superintendent Springtime brings excitement in the Lauderdale County School District. Athletics are in full swing and many of our teams are involved in playoff competitions. We wish all of you the best of luck and encourage our entire community to go out and support these incredible athletes. Spring also brings anticipation of the summer break in a few short weeks. As a reminder, now is a criti- cal time to maintain our focus and finish strong. Many of our students are in the middle of high-stakes assessments, so sustaining our academic focus will help ensure students are provided the opportunity to demonstrate all they have learned. Remember students; this is your time to shine! Finally, springtime brings a time to celebrate for our graduating seniors. As you prepare for your next steps beyond high school, be cognizant of key dates and deadlines for college applications, financial aid, and scholarship opportunities. We want all of our students in the Lauderdale County School District to reach his/her greatest potential, regardless of the chosen path. I encourage you to reach out to your school counselor should you have any questions regarding your future plans. We celebrate with you in reaching this im- portant milestone. Respectfully, Dr. John-Mark Cain, Superintendent Lauderdale County School District If you are receiving this through Peachjar, please visit www.lauderdale.k12.ms.us/4corners to view the 4 Corners newsletter in its entirety.
