LETTER FROM THE EDITOR

CELEBRATING PACIFIC MUSIC & ARTS
It was really great to sit down to write for this edition.
You may have noticed that we’ve gone with a fl exible
timeline this year, which translates to life getting in the
way of our deadlines – so thank you for your patience!
For this edition of 4/4 we will feature the 2017 Vodafone
Pacifi c Music Awards and extend the celebration of this
awesome event. Each awards ceremony is unique
and a one of a kind night in its own right, but there was
defi nitely something very special in the air this year. The
night was full of special moments, laughter, tears and
immense pride throughout the night, as we honoured our
amazing Pacifi c music artists.
We also meet newcomers to the Pacifi c music
community: 9-5ers, Razé and Lukan Rai$ey and hear
about the music journey and creative process.
is the Vodafone NZ Music Awards. Congratulations to all
the fi nalists from our Pacifi c Music Awards family.
Recently, I’ve been thinking a lot about my work and
why I work in music and the arts. I know I do this
because I believe in the value of music and the arts and
I also completely believe in the talents of our creative
people. In particular, I know how powerful music is and
all the things that it can do –to communicate, to heal, to
empower and to inspire us.
Knowing this, helps me when I’m working on the Pacifi c
Music Awards and 4/4. I want to acknowledge our artists
and the talents they have, along with all those involved
in creating and contributing music and arts to our lives.
Thank you again for sharing this 4/4 journey with us and
for your time to share the stories of our amazing Pacifi c
creatives 4/4
Our team wish to congratulate the teams behind the
Waiata Maori Music Awards and APRA Silver Scroll
Awards that were held recently – and all the artists and
songwriters acknowledged at each ceremony. We look
forward to the next awards event on the calendar, which
