2017 PHILLIP FUEMANA - MOST PROMISING ARTIST
Each year the Pacifi c Music Awards Trust works with the Fuemana family to confirm the recipient for the Phillip Fuemana Most Promising Artist Award . It is a special award as it pays tribute to Phillip Fuemana and his work , and at the same time acknowledges a new shining light amongst the Pacifi c music community .
At the awards ceremony , representatives from the Fuemana family were proudly in attendance to present the award and continue the work of their brother and Uncle . Collectively the family were happy to support an up and coming artist with this award – hoping to provide encouragement to the recipient and help them to continue to move forward in music .
The 2017 recipient was Tommy Nee , who has been generating a wave of followers and fans for his music , and his music has provided a fresh unique sound amongst the local music scene . A proud Niuean , Tommy has a strong point of view and is just as happy to create a feel good atmosphere as he is about addressing important social and political issues within his songs . He has a genuine nature and an infectious energy – which translates every time he performs live .
He released his debut EP at the end of last year , promoting 3 singles from that EP to date – which have all generated a huge following . Leading with the stand out hit “ Pick UP the Phone ” Tommy ’ s latest release “ Feel ” demonstrates all his talents and this was so evident with his stand out performance of the song on the night of the VPMAs .
This young man will have a long career in music – as a songwriter and as an artist – and we look forward
