A WEEK IN THE LIFE OF MAL
Mal is definitely one of the busiest people I know.
The work life he has established for himself now, is
extremely busy and involves multiple jobs in multiple
locations, making use of all his skills. Mal confirms
that he’s had to put time the business side of his work
and that he is still learning. “I’ve had to embrace that
side and it was hard. I’m an Islander at heart and I’m
modest, but I know exactly what my product is. I’ve
tried to learn how to run a business of some sorts,
something that creates money for me, but also creates
money for them (his family and students) as well.”
I asked Mal to explain what a typical week was like for
him and he takes an A4 sheet from his wall and says
“well it looks like this”. The sheet was titled “Music and
Life” and it had a daily outline for a full 7-day week. He
admits that the schedule is “crazy, but that there, works
for me”.
Mal is currently at 8 high schools, teaching music
as an itinerant teacher
