a very organic way of working. We need a bit of
time to process ideas, but we get there in the end.
And what helps, is that the working relationship
between me and Emily is really strong.”
Others who have heard the sister’s talk through
their ideas, have thought they were arguing, which
they confirm they don’t naturally do, but can be
part of their creative process.
vol 1 :3
They say that a common method to get their
ideas out and develop them is for them to simply
talk to each other. Emily: “it’s very unusual not to
have heard from Vea in a day”. Quite often Vea
will ring Emily with an idea, then Emily will give
her thoughts and the conversation ends. Then 5
minutes later Vea rings back with more ideas and
the process repeats. Vea says “I have to voice
it, even thought it’s probably going to be wrong,
I have to get it out, in order for Emily to go “no
because ..…” then I’ll go “oh that’s right” okay,
rearrange it now and I’ll come out with something
new.“ Vea confirms she needs that step, in order
to get to the next step – and they both confirm Vea
will always “just blurt stuff out”. Vea says “so that
is why we work so well together, cause we can, we
know how eachother’s brain works.”
Emily: “when we’re under pressure we might be
trying to change ideas really quickly, or trying to
work something out, and we obviously sound a bit
aggressive”
Vea: it’s cool, because we can have a moment
like that and then 5mins later, we’re talking
normally again. Often it’s like a little bit of a stress
point so that we can move on. Because a lot of
the time because of our job we are under that
time pressure, so its kind of good to have those
moments, to just get it out – and then we move
on.”
Emily: “yeah we’re really lucky, it’s not roses all
the time, but at least we have the ability to be able
to get the job done, cause at the end of the day our
main goal is create something”
