The way they used to flock to eat grains spread near our houses. Whereas today we don’t get to see even a single bird. We need to realise where we have 100 gone wrong as a generation and take corrective steps to recover or bring back the sparrows in the city”. Mr. Edwin Joseph, well known as sparrow man gave a talk on sparrows. He offered tips to enthusiasts on how to attract sparrows to houses, Balconies and in parks by providing nests and water facilities to the vanishing sparrows. Sparrows are friendly and adjustable in homely atmosphere. The Sparrow Man feeds about 600 – 700 sparrows everyday in the front yard of his house. He spoke about the lack of habitat for sparrows in our surroundings, the increasingly urban lifestyle of our people. He urged people to create boxes / nests for sparrows in their houses and keep millets and water for sparrows every day.
