Michalis Smyrlis holds a BSc degree in Computer Science from the University of Crete . Prior to joining Sphynx Technology Solutions AG , he had worked as a part-time research assistant at City , University of London , and as a software engineer for EMPELOR GmbH ( Switzerland ). Michalis has expertise in the development of security solutions for platforms supporting big data analytics and has worked in H2020 EU projects , including THREAT-ARREST , SEMIoTICS , SPIDER , C4IIoT , TOREADOR and EVOTION . He is also doing a PhD as an external part-time student at City , University of London . His research , as part of his PhD , is on cyber risk assessment for cyber systems based on continuous and hybrid assurance assessment schemes and on cyber insurance .

During the CYpBER Virtual Meeting , we will present our Model-driven Cyber Security Assurance approach , and how this can also drive Cyber Range Training programmes . More specifically , we will talk about the existing cyber threat landscape and the benefits of a structured , evidence-driven approach for managing the associated risks . Moreover , we will highlight the need for Cyber Range Training , and , in that context , the work being undertaken by the THREAT-ARREST H2020 project . The latter aims to develop an advanced training platform incorporating emulation , simulation , serious gaming and visualization capabilities to adequately prepare stakeholders with different types of responsibility and levels of expertise in defending high-risk cyber systems and organizations to counter advanced , known and new cyber-attacks .
