Angry, annoyed, or
frustrated, why not go
on an adults only
retreat?
The noun retreat often refers to a
place we can go to be alone and
get away from it all. This can take
many forms and last anywhere
from a day to several months to
years. In the military sense, it
means the withdrawal of troops.
In this post, I am encouraging a
different kind of retreat - a brief
and yet powerful retreat towards
the Soul.
We are sometimes asked to do
things that insult our Soul or
corrupts our spirit. Although the
misalignment can be obvious to
us at the Soul level, when
accompanied by our own desires
and old negative habits, we may
experience internal conflict and
become angry, annoyed or
frustrated. Our Soul's gentle voice
can be overshadowed by those
much louder desires and negative
habits.
At those times, it may be wiser to
retreat than to stay and wear out
our coat of armor. When staying
loyal to our Soul's long term
purpose is at risk, retreating is a
legitimate, noble and affective
tool.
So the next time we find ourselves
in a similar situation, go on an
adults only retreat. Take the time
to evaluate the threat by digging
deep within and asking yourself
the following questions:
What is really behind this trouble
or conflict in me?
What is the hidden cause of my
conflicting desires and needs?
We need to identify the source of
the corruption within us and
prepare for change internally.
Once we understand where our
experience came from within our
selves, we can restore creative
flow and return to a new
beginning. At this moment of self
re-creation, the old external threat
no longer has power over us and
we are capable of responsive
movement toward our Soul's
purpose. We cam then stand
firmly against these outermies
because our own old habits or
destructive desires (inner
enemies) have been acknowledge,
transmuted and transformed. That
my friends is a simple tool for
enlightenment.
