based Komori India is dis-
playing its entry-level press,
the Komori Enthrone GL 37, a 4-color
plus coater for commercial printing and
packaging segments. On Day 1, the
company announced the sale of two of
its presses to its customers from Luc-
know. It sold two GL 37 presses to Am-
ber Press in Lucknow.
“I have cancelled many appoint-
ments in Japan to come here. Most of
them were extremely important. I also
had some customer meeting in the pipe-
line but had to cancel all of them or
reschedule those meetings to come to
India to attend Printpack 2019.
“I did so because last time, we were
here as a part of the Insight Group but
this time we are here as an independent
entity. This helps me take a better feel
of the Indian market. I’m pretty excited
to meet new customers here at the show.
I want to see the prospects the Indian
market has to offer us,” says Yoshiharu
Komori, chairman and chief executive
officer of Komori Corporation.
It has been nearly 10 months since
Komori India came into operation. The
company is quite expectant of good en-

quiries from the show and is looking
forward to educate the market about its
services.
“I am quite optimistic about the
Indian market. Ever since we’ve come
to India, I must say that our Indian op-
erations are getting organized with each
passing day. The Indian market accord-
ing to me is full of potential and we’re
here to explore it to the best of our abili-
ties,” says Hirofumi Hoshino, manag-
ing director of Komori India.
Komori recently celebrated its 95th
anniversary last year. Most of these 95
years were all about its offset machines
but now with changing run lengths and
demand in the market, we are also com-
ing up with digital in addition to offset
technology. “And also we are working
towards bringing IoT to the customers
in a bigger way enabling customers to
connect prepress, press and postpress.
Majority of the Indian customers have
a small facility and are not very recep-
tive to automation. We can help them
improve and automate their processes,”
adds Hoshino. Komori India aims to
sell 42 presses by the end of this finan-
cial year and is targeting for 51 ma-
chines in the upcoming year.
Deal signed on day two of Printpack 2019
Shuban Prints buys Bobst Novacut 106 E3.0 die-cutter and Visionfold folder-gluer
Shardul Sharma Shuban’s new plant
to be ready by March
aipur-based monocarton and rigid
box manufacturer Shuban Prints
has bought the new generation
Bobst Novacut 106 E 3.0 die-cutter,
which will be placed at its upcoming
state-of-the-art plant in Jaipur. The deal
was announced on the second day of
Printpack 2019 show at Bobst India’s
stand. The Novacut 106 E3.0 die-cutter
bought by Shuban is currently being
demonstrated by Bobst India at Print-
pack.
“The most important reason for
buying the new generation Novacut
106 E3.0 is the quick change-over
time that the machine offers. This will
greatly help our productivity, as we can
quickly change from duplex to E-flute
and vice versa. Better productivity also
means timely deliver, especially when
it comes to jobs for the pharma industry
customer for whom punctuality is very
important,” says Bharat Gupta, manag-
ing director, Shuban Prints. Gupta informs that Shuban is building
a brand-new plant which will be spread
over 2 acres. In the first phase, the man-
ufacturing will happen over an area of
30,000 square feet. The plant is fully
USFDA compliant and will have the
capacity to convert 300 tons of paper
board per month. In addition to pharma
industry, the company also services
customers in sweets, snacks and FMCG
industries. “Our new plant is currently
under construction and will be ready
by March this year. All operations are
streamlined,” he says. The new plant
will house the Novacut 106 E3.0 die-
cutter, Visionfold folder-gluer, an E-
flute machine by Zhongke India and an
8-color offset press.
Shuban is also in the process of setting
a sales office in Noida, which will help the
company in acquiring new customers. At
present, the company is a very dominant
player in the Rajasthan market where it
has an 85% share in the rigid box segment.

Shuban had been using a pre-
owned Bobst die-cutter, so upgrading
to a brand new Novacut was a logical
step forward, Gupta says. “Such was
our faith in Bobst that we first saw the
Novacut on 1 December and placed the
order on 13 December.”
In addition to the Novacut, the
Jaipur-based firm has also placed an or-
der for a Bobst Visionfold folder-gluer.
Commenting on the development,
Venugopal Menon of Bobst India says,
“Shuban prints were very clear that if it
has to be a converting machine, it has to
be a Bobst because they were already
familiar with our technology. Also, they
wanted a supplier who has reliability,
precision and longevity.”
