Premiere Screening of Rally Caps film , Book Signing , Historic Game of Catch
SATURDAY , AUGUST 31 @ 3 PM FIELD OF DREAMS MOVIE SITE ( 28995 LANSING RD , DYERSVILLE , IA ) On Saturday , Aug . 31 , the Field of Dreams Movie Site hosts the premiere screening of Rally Caps , autographs with former Major Leaguer Curtis Pride , a book signing with Ethan Bryan , a baseball clinic , and the largest game of catch ever played at the movie site .
Rally Caps , starring Judd Hirsch , Amy Smart , and Carson Minniear , tells the story of a youth baseball player who has his dreams of pitching for a little league travel team derailed by a devastating injury on the field . After a long recovery , he goes off to away camp with his
older brother where he befriends a deaf catcher and his sister . Based on their own experiences living with a disability , they help him overcome his anxiety and fear of returning to the mound . The film will be screened at 8 p . m . following a questionand-answer session with writer and director Lee Cipolla and the film ’ s producers at 7:30 p . m . Also participating will be actors Minniear , James “ Coach Ballgame ” Lowe , Colten Pride , and Noelle Pride .
The event kicks off with an autograph session featuring Curtis Pride , the first full-season deaf player in Major League Baseball ’ s modern era . He will be available to take photos and sign autographs at 3 p . m . That will be followed by a book signing by Ethan Bryan , author of A Year of Playing Catch : What a Simple Daily Experiment Taught Me about Life at 4 p . m . A sandlot clinic will be led by Coach Ballgame at 5 p . m . At 6:30 p . m ., all guests will be invited onto the field to take part in the largest game of catch ever played at the Field of Dreams Movie Site .

THURSDAY , SEPTEMBER 5 @ 2 – 5 PM STEEPLE SQUARE ( 101 E 15 TH ST ) In response to the recent layoffs at John Deere Dubuque Works and Duluth Trading , the Greater Dubuque Development Corporation , in partnership with IowaWORKS , is hosting an AccessDubuqueJobs . com Hiring Fair on Thursday , Sept . 5 , at 2 – 5 p . m . at Steeple Square .
This hiring fair is a critical component of regional rapid response efforts to assist workers impacted by recent layoffs . John Deere Dubuque Works announced layoffs in July and August , impacting 133 workers , including 34 salaried employees and 99 production workers . Additionally , Duluth Trading in Dubuque announced on Aug . 22 , 2024 , that 74 workers will be impacted , with terminations beginning on Oct . 27 , 2024 .
Up to 50 regional employers will be in attendance , representing a wide array of industries including manufacturing , financial and insurance services , warehouse logistics , administrative , IT , and more . These employers are offering opportunities that range from entry-level to professional careers , providing something for job seekers at every stage of their career journey .
