The Rocky Horror Show
OCTOBER 20 – 29 The original kitschy rock ’ n ’ roll sci-fi gothic musical takes The Grand stage . In this cult classic , sweethearts Brad and Janet , stuck with a flat tire during a storm , discover the eerie mansion of Dr . Frank-N-Furter . As their innocence is lost , Brad and Janet meet a houseful of wild characters , including a rocking biker and a creepy butler . Through elaborate dances and rock songs , Frank-N-Furter unveils his latest creation : a muscular man named “ Rocky .”

The Nutcracker
DECEMBER 14 – 22 An annual Dubuque Christmas tradition inspired by Dubuque , The Nutcracker returns . Whirling snowflakes and waltzing flowers frame this beloved holiday classic . Clara and her enchanted Nutcracker battle the dreadful Mouse King in a nightmare that becomes a beautiful dream . Performed annually for over 20 years , the Dubuque City Youth Ballet ’ s production will be a highlight of your family ’ s holiday celebration .

Footloose
JUNE 20 – JULY 6 , 2025 Kick off your Sunday shoes this summer with Footloose , co-produced with Rising Star Theatre Company . Based on the explosive rock ’ n ’ roll musical movie , this Broadway hit tells the story of Ren McCormack , a big-city teen who finds himself out of place in a rural town . He is prepared for the inevitable adjustment period at his new high school . But he ’ s not prepared for the rigorous local edicts , including a ban on dancing instituted by the local preacher , who is determined to exercise control over the town ’ s youth . To the rockin ’ rhythm of its Oscar and Tony-nominated Top 40 score , augmented with dynamic new songs , Footloose celebrates the wisdom of listening to young people while guiding them with a warm heart and open mind .

The Best Christmas Pageant Ever — The Musical
NOVEMBER 29 – DECEMBER 8 The Herdmans are the worst kids in the history of the world — so when they crash Sunday school and demand parts in the Christmas pageant , the whole town panics . There ’ s not supposed to be biting or cigar-smoking in Bethlehem , and while these kids have never even heard the Christmas story , they definitely have rewrites ! Soon , everyone is calling for reluctant director Grace Bradley to cancel the whole thing . It ’ s up to the Bradleys and the Reverend to help their community see the Christmas story and the Herdman kids through new eyes in this buoyant musical adaptation of the funny and touching holiday classic .

AUGUST 6 – 10 , 2025 The season concludes in August with the annual youth production coproduced with Rising Star Theatre Company . Area students will take the stage in Rodgers and Hammerstein ’ s Cinderella . The timeless enchantment of a magical fairy tale is reborn with charm and elegance . Generations have been transported to the miraculous kingdom of dreams-come-true . With great warmth and more than a touch of hilarity , the hearts of children and adults alike still soar when the slipper fits .

FEBRUARY 21 – MARCH 2 , 2025 In addition to the announced productions , The Grand will also produce a theatre piece for young audiences . It will be geared towards elementary school students and their families . This production will also include daytime school matinee performances .
