30 th Annual Music in the Gardens

SUNDAYS : JUNE THROUGH AUGUST @ 6:30 – 8:30 PM DUBUQUE ARBORETUM & BOTANICAL GARDENS PACKARD PAVILION AMPHITHEATER ( 3800 ARBORETUM DR ) The Dubuque Arts Council , in partnership with the Dubuque Arboretum & Botanical Gardens , begins their spectacular , free 2022 summer series on Sunday evenings from June 5 to Aug . 28 at 6:30 – 8:30 p . m . at the Arboretum .
This is a special year for the Dubuque Arts Council , as they are celebrating their 30 th anniversary with this season of music . The Music in the Gardens series began in July of 1992 and has since included a total of 181 concerts .
For the 2022 series , with a combined effort of both the Dubuque Arboretum & Botanical Gardens and the Dubuque Arts Council , concertgoers will enjoy 13 wonderful performances . The Arboretum ’ s series kicks off on June 5 with the Johnny Rogers followed by Fortunate Sons on June 12 .
Beginning June 19 , the Dubuque Arts Council presents seven artists : Hunter Fuerste and His American Vintage Orchestra ( June 19 ), the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra ( June 26 ), Neil Berg ( July 3 ), Secrets ( July 10 ), David Weld & the Imperial Flames ( July 17 ), and Go Your Own Way ( July 24 ). Closing the Dubuque Arts Council run on July 31 will be the Kids From Wisconsin ’ s BIG BANG BOOM Tour , their high-powered , twohour , Vegas-style production . During the performance , the Dubuque Arts Council will give away a picnic tote with an estimated value of $ 1,500 that includes dinner service for two , two bottles of wine , and
dinner for two at 15 of the area ’ s finest restaurants and eating establishments .
The summer performances wind down with the Dubuque Arboretum & Botanical Gardens presenting local favorites Walking Molly and Tapestry ( Aug . 7 and 14 ), 10 of Soul on Aug . 21 , and the grand finale on Aug . 28 with Iowa Rock & Roll Music Association Hall of Fame Inductee Endless Summer .
In addition to this year ’ s concert series , there will be food and drink provided from Hy-Vee on Dodge and ice cream from the Dubuque Noon Lions Club . All are invited to bring a picnic , lawn chair , and favorite beverage , sit back and enjoy this great concert series for years to come .

SUNDAY , JUNE 5 The Johnny Rogers Show “ The History of Rock n ’ Roll ” is the story of Buddy and Beyond . Johnny transports his audience back in time when you could go to your favorite malt shops with your favorite girl and dance to your favorite
bands . The show is a tribute to the music of the legends of Rock ‘ n ’ Roll . It starts with Johnny ’ s uncanny portrayal of the late Buddy Holly and goes on with a tribute to the legendary Roy Orbison , Jerry Lee Lewis , Ricky Nelson , Chuck Berry , and the late Elvis Presley .
The Fortunate Sons
SUNDAY , JUNE 12 Based in Chicago , The Fortunate Sons tours nationally and internationally to keep the tradition of CCR ’ s timeless music alive . Using original vintage gear and instruments , accurate costumes , and spot-on musical ability , The Fortunate Sons instantly conjure up the full experience of seeing Creedence in their prime !
Hunter Fuerste and his American Vintage Orchestra
SUNDAY , JUNE 19 Presenting an authentic musical recreation of the Big Band era . The show features recreations of the original hits of Glenn Miller , Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey , Artie Shaw , Benny Goodman , Harry James , Count Basie , and many others . In addition to a 14-piece big band , the program features vocal soloists and a special tight harmony vocal group .
Neil Berg ’ s Greatest Piano Songs from the 60s and 70s
SUNDAY , JULY 3 Award-winning composer and producer Neil Berg is back with an all new concert , paying tribute to the greatest piano songs of the ‘ 60s and ‘ 70s . Neil is joined by his wife , Dubuque ’ s very own Rita Harvey , and additional Broadway artists and musicians , recreating the most famous piano songs of artists like Billy Joel , Carole King , Elton John , Beach Boys , The Eagles , The Beatles , Chicago , and more .

SUNDAY , JULY 10 Originally formed in the mid ‘ 80s before scattering across the country , they ’ ve come back together with a diverse set featuring ‘ 60 –‘ 80s rock & roll , country , and rhythm & blues . Tunes that everybody can dance and sing along to . These music veterans have written hit songs and toured with big names in rock and country music , and now they ' re back together and back at home .

SUNDAY , JUNE 26 The casual family-friendly concert features a range of musical styles including popular light classics , movie soundtracks , and patriotic pieces . Come early for the youth summer camp performance , conducted by Diego Piedra . The DSO ’ s Pursuit of the Podium fundraiser also culminates with Gail Appel , this year ’ s winner , conducting a selection at the concert .
SUNDAY , JULY 17 Dave Weld and The Imperial Flames , an authentic , real deal blues band , high energy with versatile talent , variety , and a cohesive show that includes original driving house rockin ’ blues , boogie , and soul . The originals are classic in nature , the standards are revitalized with striking three part vocal harmony , three vocal stylists , and led by passionate slide guitarist , Dave Weld along with blues diva and two time Rami winner Mona Rose ( Monica Myhre ).
