La Terrasse Joe Muldoon La Terrasse is an independent magazine aimed primarily at football fans travelling to matches up and down Britain and across Europe. Its main aim is to ‘gentrify’ the existence of travelling football fans, rebranding the infamous preconceptions of the subculture surrounding British and European football by combining current affairs with art, fashion and travel. The use of the painting as the front cover promotes creativity whilst simultaneously invoking a sense of nostalgia through a celebration of previous footballing eras. It also suggests a more sophisticated publication. David Diehl’s ‘Icon’ collection, from which the painting comes, could through time be utilised as a recurring feature in the magazine, epitomising the synergy between art and football culture that is typical of independent magazines of this type. 23
