A LATE-BLOOMER BLOSSOMS IN CTSS
Everyone can return and contribute to CTSS.
When I was young, I was a slow-learner and a late-bloomer. I graduated from Primary school with a disappointing set of Primary School Leaving Examination results and was posted to the Normal Technical( NT) Stream of Clementi Town Secondary School( CTSS). It was a demoralising journey for me as I had thought erroneously at the start that there would be nothing to look forward to in my future since I was in the NT stream. However, things started to change after I joined CTSS. My perception of NT students would be totally transformed.
The teachers were extremely patient with us and we were not treated differently just because we were from the NT stream. We were expected to be self-disciplined and to work hard to realise our potential. The strong encouragement and efforts from the school helped me to realise my dreams of excelling academically. Not only that, the years of active participation in Girl Guides and the Malay Culture Club gave me invaluable experience and boosted my self-confidence.
The meaningful journey I had in CTSS was made possible only with the help of my dedicated teachers and caring classmates. I had the good fortune of having a remarkable classparent who sacrificed his precious time for his students and gave us the moral support that we needed. I have also learnt that the future lies in our own hands. Personal goals are achievable only if we put in a great deal of patience and perseverance. Today I am back working at Clementi Town Secondary School where my journey of self-attainment started. CTSS has indeed touched my soul and I want to give back to the school that has played a big part in grooming me into who I am.
Siti Kamisah is now serving her alma mater as an ICT Executive, providing crucial support to teachers in educating their students.
