GEORGE MCKAY WILSON
March 1896 – 9th May 1915
George McKay Wilson, was the son of Robert Wilson and his wife Mary, of 27 Sully Terrace,
Penarth. George was born in 23 Philip Street, Gloucester. He was baptised on 21st December 1898
at St Luke’s Church Gloucester, with his sister Gertrude.
George’s father’s occupation is given as a cellarman. The house in Sully Terrace used to be right in
front of the local railway line, which carried large volumes of coal to the local ports, for onward
shipping to all parts of the World. The railway line was closed in the Beeching cuts and now forms
part of a walkway and cycle path through Penarth to the coast beyond.
