Kriston Chen is a T&T-based graphic designer who studied at Parsons The New School for Design in New York, honing his design chops working in publishing houses like Macmillan, Bloomsbury and Random House. Crazy to imagine that before that, he was on a steady path to becoming a public health professional — bent on wanting nothing more than to rid the world of social injustices within our healthcare system.

Tell us about yourself...

Those days seem like yesteryear, but the truth remains: do what you love and feels right, this is how you connect with people — become good at it.

The ability to connect and engage with even just one person, the best way you know how, is a healthy proposition. It opens the doors to listening, and the willingness to learn and improve. Delight and enlight is what they say.

In a way, everything I do is a public health project — a chance to improve quality of life. To share what I love with others.

Why did you join 30dac?

I joined 30dac because I wanted something interesting and challenging to do. Having just moved back to Trinidad, void of new inspiration and a creative network, 30dac was my way of getting back into things, without feeling pressured. There weren't any expectations going into it, but the community was very supportive and created enough push to keep the ball rolling, in both a fun and enjoyable way. Had a great time and created some real goodies, I'm proud to look back on.
