WHO
Hello my name is Deborah Hughes
I am an artist in the sense of anything
creative. My professional genres of
focus are dance and design. I have
studied and continually perform
contemporary modern, contemporary
ballet, African dance, as well as hip-‐hop,
which is my first love. When I’m not on
the road dancing, I am making clothes
for various artist, photo shoots, clients,
or just for my personal flyness. -
WHY
I haven’t celebrated my birthday in
years because I am lame and a
workaholic. For my 30th and my new
year, I would like to change that. I just
don’t want to have a party— I want to
start my new year as I always do.
Each birthday I normally wake up to
have my time of meditation and go
volunteer at a soup kitchen or homeless
shelter. I never mention my birthday as
I continue on with my day. This year I
want to continue in the same vein of
giving but on a larger scale.
HOW
I am giving two scholarships to anyone
interested in pursuing a career in
creative fields (ie. photography, dance,
music, theatre, etc.) Remember art is
life! Ways to give back include:
Donating to the cause of the event
and/or contributing to our specific “
Creative Scholarship” (all donations are
tax deductible).
Want to get involved? Here’s how:
If you own a business and would love to
expand your reach to the artistry/health
community, we have vendor
opportunities available. If you are an
individual you can make a tax-‐
deductible donation towards the
scholarships. In the event that anyone
wants to participate in multiple ways,
opportunities to be both a vendor and
donor are available. No amount is too
small or too large.
Thank you in advance!
