SERVING IN GUATEMALA

Every year , KeHE Cares ® sends teams of employees to serve in Santa Rosita , Guatemala . In 2023 , serving teams installed 49 bio stoves and water filtration systems to help families in desperate situations . Upon their arrival in January 2023 , our team received heartbreaking news . Five families living at the top of a mountain called Calvary had lost everything to a devastating fire . Our team spent the next two days walking past a small , polluted watering hole , which serves as the only source of clean water for the entire community , as they began climbing the long road up to install beds and stoves for these precious families .
Along the journey to the top of the mountain , the team encountered mothers with infants strapped to them , toddlers trailing behind , and water containers balanced on their heads as they made the slow descent down the mountain . We later learned that these mothers would make that trip eight times a day to provide their homes with water .
The five families whose homes and belongings were destroyed in the fire represent 200 + unreached families in the upper region of Santa Rosita ; families that are now a vital part of the transformative work being done through our KeHE Cares partner New Vision Guatemala .
