WHO WE ARE

From our foundation President

Dear friends of KeHE Cares ® ,
Our longing at the KeHE Cares ® Foundation ( KCF ) is to see transformational impact come to people who are marginalized and forgotten . We want them to experience complete restoration and healing . We want them to flourish .
The words of Jesus perfectly articulate what we ’ d like to see for those who are stuck in poverty – we want them to experience Abundant Life , or the fullest life possible ( John 10:10 ). However , when we walk alongside those who are suffering , there are no easy , “ one size fits all ” answers . Oftentimes , the best thing we can do for people who are suffering is to be present with them . As we like to say when we serve at KeHE , “ It is more about our Availability than our Ability .”
And interestingly , what we also find as we relationally enter into the lives of others who are struggling is that we experience healing in our own souls . Could the journey towards Abundant Life be found as we pour ourselves out for one another , particularly when we pour ourselves out for those who are suffering ? Maybe that is why Serving experiences over the years have been the # 1 KCF program that has impacted the greater KeHE culture .
To help us stay on the “ journey ” and to address the complexities surrounding poverty , we have developed three Pillars of Care within the KCF : 1 ) Serving & Giving ; 2 ) Impact Investing ; 3 ) the KeHE ® Leadership Academy ( KLA ). I ’ m excited for you to see the incredible impact happening through each pillar in this year ’ s report .
If you are reading this letter , there is no question that you ’ ve been a critical part of the work that has been done through the KCF in 2023 . We are so grateful for you , and for all of those on the journey with us . We have the privilege of knowing and working alongside the most amazing serving partners possible ( we call them KeHE Cares Partners ). They are the secret sauce behind KeHE Cares . We are also incredibly grateful for our fellow KeHE employees who make this all possible . Every good thing that happens in and through the KCF is absolutely the “ fruit ” of the hard labor of every employee .
In 2024 , and beyond , may we stay on the journey together .
Your fellow traveler ,
Rusty Bland President of the KeHE Cares Foundation
