Countess Eylo´s History
Eylo Alfonso was one of the most important character in the history of Valladolid. She was countess of the first Valladolid. She built a lot of important buildings like the Puente Mayor, three hospitals and San Nicolás church.
Eylo Alfonso or Eylo Alfónsez was born in Sahagún in the middle of the 11th century; she was Alfonso Muñoz and Aldonza González’s daughter . She was Martín Alfonso’s the sister .
She got married to Pedro Ansúrez who the king placed an order to rebuild Valladolid. She had five children: Mayor, María, Urraca, Alfonso and Fernando Pérez.
She died in 1112 and she was buried in the monastry Real de San Benito in Sahagún. After this Pedro Ansúrez got married to Elvira Sánchez.
