Being a tattoo artist or playing the drums is something you don’t Instantly picture a girl doing. You don’t give birth to a girl and think she’ll grow up to be a drummer or a tattoo artist. (laughs) I once managed a girl band and I actually got them a deal and right around the time to sign the ones that started dating each other and there was a lot of “I hate her!” and it all fell apart (laughs) That’s the problem with bands because everyone dates each other and they break up! Like every band..ever! How could you not, you’re spending all the time together. So you ended up going the solo route, and maybe I don’t get out much but are there not as many people doing solo acoustic stuff now? Yea, especially in the pop/rock scene that I’m in it’s not re- ally kind of a thing anymore, but that was how I began the solo stuff and just stuck with it the whole time. That’s my heart. The new song “Girlfriend” seems to be a departure. Yea, see, I don’t think it’s a departure because I’m usd to it (laughs) but to everyone else it is. I guess when you’re so close to something, but it’s a little more upbeat because I only wrote ballads for like 5 years and now I’m not only just writing ballads anymore. Plus it’s angry which is new. 13
