Probably around 7-8
years old. My dad
inspired me to draw,
his natural talent for
the figurative made
me all giddy inside.
Once I figured out I
could draw, Man, I ran
around the house in
hysterical happiness.
(laughs) This is way
better then sex. Well,
it depends who you’re
doing it with. (laughs)
What did you go
through to make the
transition to people
seeing your work
and start selling it,
and getting to the
point where you
could make a living
at it?
It’s such a deep personal journey. Locking yourself in the studio for hours
and hours with a blind but still all knowing that if I work hard I’ll succeed.
One story that’ll always stick with me was: I studied graphic design for a
while and we had to re-design an album cover… I chose The Flaming Lips. I
went deep into myself and came up with an Illustration that I really connected with. Its was truly mine. Unadulterated. This sparked something in me. “I
can do this” and “I can go places” I thought. Then it was head down, work,
work, work.
I’ve seen your work hanging at the Four Seasons, where else might
people see you work and in how many countries?
At this point, NYC, Germany, Spain, Sydney.
Do you work fast or find yourself coming back to pieces?
