M: You would have loved it. C: That’s the shop I want now, the motorcycle biker shop. I want those days back. M: Yea, we had flash. C: That was like I was coming up in tattooing. The first time I got tattooed, no the 2nd time, the dude showed up on his bike all drunk. They were out partying and they ended up beating the shit out of this dude who was waiting all day to get tattooed...it’s so different now.. I was like fuck yea! and I sat down and I got grounded on all day and I was like this is the shit and I’m getting me a tattoo shop when I get older. M: Our shop was tough. There was no whining or crying. There was a bunch of truckers in there and I had to work my ass of to be taken seriously, and it was hard to get an apprenticeship because the wives of the guys who were gonna teach me wouldn’t let them hire a girl. It was a little bit of a tough environment, but once you proved yourself and earned your way, there was respect and etiquette and a way to be amongst each other I don’t really see now. S: Do you think over the last 5 years, women are more respected or just me asking the question does that mean.. M: I would not say women are more respected (laughs) I would say there’s more women in the industry.. 127
